"Greatest Hits" Instant Reactions!

Brian's One Word Review: Beautiful.

Everything about "Greatest Hits" was beautiful. I don't know if they pumped in some extra sappy music in the episode without me noticing, or if there was the nagging thought in the back of my head that I was watching the last Claire-Charlie or Hurley-Charlie interactions, but it was a pretty emotional episode.

The way that they used Charlie's flashbacks as a "greatest hits" montage of his life was genius, sparing us from any scenes that felt like "filler" that might take away from the action on the Island. I was actually looking forward to them, waiting to see what moments would rank as the best in his life (although I saw the Claire meeting being number one from a mile away).

It was also beautiful the way that the episode built up to what seemed to be Charlie's assured death (aside from a very scary moment when I thought Desmond might take his place) - it gave sufficient attention to the story, giving the audience one last episode full of Charlie, and I must say, this was easily the best Charlie-centric episode we've ever had.

Lastly, it was beautiful the way that the episode set up the season finale. For all you other TV shows out there (yes, I'm looking in your direction "24"), this is how you write a story arc. Have multiple story lines that have all been sufficiently developed over the course of the season (or multiple seasons), all coming to an unavoidable head all at once. I don't know about you guys, but I'm more excited for this season finale than I have been for either of the first two seasons.

But before we look ahead, what do we need to discuss from this week?

Nadia. She appeared in a flashback! Does that mean Sayid is dead? Judging by the brief scene from next week showing Sayid, Bernard, and Jin tied up with guns to their back - it's not looking like he's out of the clear yet. Sadly, thinking about it - killing off those three characters makes a lot of sense. We've already discussed the logic behind Sayid, Bernard has been basically absent from the season anyways, and Jin's death would turn Sun into even a bigger badass than she already is. On the other hand, wouldn't that be too obvious?

Looking Glass. Whoa! Remember when there were all those rumors about Jack being held in an "underwater Dharma station" before the season began? Turns out there actually is one! And it's called "The Looking Glass". Can I start working on next week's Deeper Meaning Guess now? It's entitled "Through the Looking Glass", and it is now seeming pretty obvious what it means. But I'll restrain myself.

The more intriguing thing is that either Juliet was kept in the dark about the functionality of the station, or there are two groups of Others - some in the know, and some on the outside. Based on the preview for next week, Patchy looks to be in the know, along with a few other Others (perhaps Ben's recruits vs. Island Originals?) or Juliet really is a mole / spy and is setting our Survivors up. I think the first seems more likely at this point. I don't know how, but whenever I start to distrust Juliet, she totally wins me back over a few scenes later. Witchy woman!

So what is the function of the station? Clearly it's to keep a tight control over who can come and go to the Island, as well as who can communicate with the Island... which is why Patchy's involvement there makes sense. If Ben was somehow able to gain control of it, it would also go a long way in explaining how he was able to get into a postion of power among the Others. He who controls the information controls the rules.

Ben. Speaking of Benjamin, he's pretty much gone from potential evil mastermind to crazy person over the course of two episodes. Alpert has to be catching on to his erratic ways - not explaning what happened to Locke, claiming that Jacob told them to attack a day early, instructing the Others to kill anyone that gets in their way - all of this would seem to fly in the face of the hippie Dharma culture and the assumed peaceful ways of the Island Originals. How long before someone steps up and challenges Ben? John Locke, time to make your entrance.

Radio Tower. Think about this - the radio tower is one of the first places of mystery ever introduced on Lost (in the Pilot!), and now we might finally get a chance to see it. In this episode we got a new Dharma Station and an expedition to the Radio Tower? Talk about getting more reveals than we got for most of the first season!

Charlie. So, the good news is that Charlie survived this episode. The bad news is that, as I said in my episode preview, the cruel thing to do would be to have Charlie survive this episode, then die next week. I stand by my prediction. On the other hand, if Charlie dies, that means that Claire and Aaron get rescued in a helicopter - so that can't happen, right?

Wrong. I'm ready to make my annual outlandish Season Finale prediction. Some of our Survivors will be rescued (or appear to be rescued) before this season is over. Mark it. I'll go into further detail with next week's episode preview.

Which brings up one last point. I'm actually going to be gone for the better part of the next four days, so my "full analysis" of this episode will probably just be a "brief analysis" tacked on to next week's episode preview. The good news is that I didn't catch a lot of extra "hidden" items (although I'd like to take a closer look at the Looking Glass Map that Sayid somehow produced), so I think I hit most of my major thoughts in this extra long Instant Reaction. Hopefully it will tide you over.

If not, feel free to curse my name and complain on the Message Board and Comments Section.

Or you could always discuss the episode amongst yourselves until I return here.

Lost!

Fantastic episode. I never liked Charlie before this episode but he completely won me over.

Please tell me the line "if you're going to be hiding in the bushes, we'd better get you into something dark" was meant to be interpreted the way I interpreted it. Because I was laughing for five solid minutes after that. Best line in the series. Unless I'm just being inappropriate.

Brian, I agree with nearly everything you said. Except this, which I don't understand:

"The good news is that I didn't catch a lot of I tried to get most of my major thoughts in this extra long Instant Reaction, so hopefully it will tide you over."

Boy, do you think & type fast! Maybe too fast this time! =~>

Is anyone else getting excited about the prospect of some survivors getting rescued? This could definately lead to a great set of episodes set off Island involving the saved survivors trying to rescue the left behind guys and all the great intrigue and conspiracy that will follow them everywhere.

y'know... not everybody watches the previews... thanks for spoiling it for me... a simple spoiler alert can't be that hard... and sorry, but duue to your prolific use of 'based on the preview', i will be removing this feed from my rss reader... is that other guy coming back?

This one has me delurking. So I'm a little out of the loop on LOOOOST because I didn't start watching until my friend snuck her disc set of season one in my bag before leaving her house. Of course I was hooked and rented season two. I tried to not watch any of season three until it was available to rent but I've watched bits and the last few episodes in full. Fortunately (for me at this moment) not everything is tied up in a little bow each episode so I'm not the only who's lost.

Anyway, about tonights show - loved it! I was thinking about Desmond's premonitions and started to wonder, what if the two were separate? He could have seen parts of two events, Charlie drowning & Claire and Aaron being rescued. But what if the drowning ends up being something avoided (like past Charlie deaths) and Claire and Aaron's rescue is a premonition of the distant future and he just didn't see Charlie getting onto the helicopter. The helicopter premonition could be speaking of something to come in the last season maybe? Maybe I'm just grasping for straws here - I really like Charlie and don't want to see him go, especially after this episode. And I'm really hoping that this series doesn't end with everyone dieing because that would just be lame, so there's got to be a rescue at some point right? Now I'm rambling. My point - I'd like to see Charlie live & leave the island with Claire and Aaron.

So, what about all of the women Charlie encounters at the Looking Glass? Are they ones who supposedly died in childbirth (according to Ben) but who really didn't? Does that make Charlie our Alice in Wonderland (now through the Looking Glass)?

Anonymous said...

Lots to digest from this episode, but there's one thing that's really bugging me that I hope you're able to address/brainstorm in your full analysis, Brian:

During Charlie's 4th flashback (the one where he rescues Nadia), we should have seen Desmond putting change into Charlie's guitar case. It was pretty clear that they wanted us to remember Desmond's flashback and notice that he wasn't there this time.

Knowing the Lost writers, this was definitely intentional. Question is, what's the purpose? I'm wondering if this is a sign that Charlie is actually going to live, that somehow their on-island interaction has deconstructed their chance meeting in the past.

what if desmond was lying about what he saw in his flashback?

That chick who ran up to Charlie with a gun once he was inside the Looking Glass... could that have been little Annie from "Man Behind the Curtain"??

Renee' said...

I guess it was Alex's bloody hand from last weeks preview, not Locke's.

Anonymous said...

I couldn't tell if the gun-toting babes in the Looking Glass hatch were others, or were Dharma folks that nobody knew were there. It makes sense that they were Others, but then Juliet would be lying...again. Because she said that she didn't know anyone who had been there, or anything about that hatch. But there were people there. They had to eat, right? How were they getting food? How did the communicate with Ben without Juliet knowing?

Also, did it bother anyone else that Rose's hair was prefectly cornrowed? Just what hair salon on the island does she use?

I was wondering about Karl. Is he a wayward other? Or was he yet another baby from Danielle's crew (right age, about the same as Alex) that was kidnapped and raised as an Other? What do we know about him, really?

Anonymous said...

Could'nt help noticing how they didn't show Desmond's preminition of Charlie drowning. In the past, Desmond's predictions are always shown and this time, they failed to do so. I wonder if this means anything? Agreed....best one word description for episode - "Beautiful".

Brian said...

jase - Hey, I avoid spoilers like the plague as well, but the episode previews are totally unavoidable. Why?

If you're going to watch anything on television for the next seven days, there's a chance you're going to see a commercial for Lost. Not just on ABC, but on other stations as well. There's nothing you can do about it.

Sorry.

I believe the Looking Glass pod is auctually manned by the Darmites that were not killed in the gas attack.

Maybe I'm just a genius, but seems like Charlie didn't have to go into the pod anyway. All they needed to do was cut the line that connects that pod with the island. But that would have been too easy.

I think it would be a mistake to kill Jin, Sayid, and Bernard. losing 2 main characters in your season finale, could be damaging. Of course adding Karl and the chick holding the gun on Charlie as main characters could help offset the loss.

I think CFL will come to the rescue on the beach when they are about to execute Sayid, Jin, and Bernard. Only Bernard will die.

I wonder if Walt and Michael end up in the Looking Glass pod. That would be a good ending scene for next week.

And lastly, why wasn't Tom in any scene last night? I thought he was pretty much Ben's right hand man. I could see him also starting to link the Survivors and helping them. He did like playing football with Jack. And he didn't break up the Locke/Patchy fight.

BRIAN:

You hit the nail on the head with your one word review. Last night's episode WAS beautiful.

And I hate to say it, but you were off on your thought's on Charlie. He showed lots of marbles last night. Once Desmond told Charlie that by sacrificing himself, Claire and Aaron would be safe and rescued, Charlie didn't think twice about his mission.

and I TOO loved Charlie's flashbacks...especially once I saw that they were the 5 greatest moments of his life.....and I usually can't stand Charlie's backstory.

BEAUTIFUL, indeed!

Anonymous said...

Great review as always, thank you Brian.

However, you seem to think the Others may not like Ben's instructions to kill those who get in the way during the rapt, because of the "assumed peaceful ways of the Island's Originals". Not so peaceful when they killed all the Dharma people in the purge. And if Alpert had something to do with Juliette's husband's death then he to has blood on his hands. Hardly the kind of people who would revolt against Ben for an additional death or two I would think.

I also have a question concerning this or these underwater stations. Is the place where Jack was held prisoner the same underwater hatch as the Looking Glass? If so, then Juliette should know there would be people there and then she also knew that Charlie would be in danger.

Hobnail, about Desmond's flashback and Charlie's 4th flashback: maybe the writers wanted us to realize that Dessy's premonitions are real and fear even more for Charlie's life. The reason Dessy wasn't there last night, may be that, since Charlie doesn't remember him, it must be he never NOTICED him to begin with. But maybe you are right and then we must wait and see.

The hatch that Jack was in was called "The Hydra" and it was attached to the Alcatraz.

I really liked this episode.. new station, new station yay! I'm also still on the kick of red means dead. Charlie's red shirt certainly stood out in his flashback... and then Hurley on the beach too.. hmmm

Brian, we really need to talk about this work schedule/ personal life thing of yours... I mean come on, it's impacting your first and primary focus of this blog! Sheesh... some people....

Anonymous said...

If you think about it, Desmond kept saving Charlie from his flashes. But this time Charlie went through with it anyway and lived, so maybe Desmond's premonitions will stop. Charlie remembered he was a hero and faced death...although, isn't that the kind of thing that happens to characters right before they bite it?

Dang'it!

Anonymous said...

Beautiful indeed! Both your reactions and this episode!

I am off to the forum!

Charlie didn't finish the flashback that Desmond saw - he is supposed to die after turning of the switch, therefore Charlie has not been saved and his fate is still unknown. Once he turns of the yellow flashing switch we'll know if he lives or dies. I would assume him swimming back to shore is when he is destined to drown.

I know its probably not something you will change your 'preview principles' over but if you can keep in mind that your great blog reaches further afield than you may think and we just cant wait on our pokey little TV networks to catch up to you guys! :-)

Great review. I am new-er to this blog, but am totally addicted.

Two things: I am finding it so incredible that no one will know what is happening to Charlie, since they will think that he died in the mission. It is not like anyone else is going to swim down there to see what happened.

Another thing: I liked Alex's comment last night to Karl about Ben not being her real dad. Hmmm...

Can't wait for next week!

Andrew Steger said...

So it seems like the others are on alcatraz since karl had to take the boat to get to the losties? If that's the case (which i may just be confused) how and when did they get there? We know they've been on the main island because locke recruited sawyer to kill his dad on the black rock on the main island.

Anonymous said...

What if Naomi is actually a plant from the others. She tricks the Losties into thinking a helicopter is coming to rescue them and they load Aaron and Claire onto a helicopter and wahlah (sp?)...they've got exactly what they've wanted from the very beginning. Who knows Sun may just hop on for fun!

JustAnotherOther said...

I think I'm the only one that didn't like that episode. Sorry? But I do agree that they totally set Charlie up to die in the finale. Desmond said he saw him IN a hatch..then the flashing light, flip the switch, and drown. He's IN it now.

Anonymous said...

It is evident from the promo footage that Desmond will swim down and also enter the 'Looking Glass" hatch.

I bet that the blond chick, with the rifle in the hatch, will end up being Anne (Ben's childhood galfriend).

No way Naomi is a plant given Ben's unnerving reaction when he heard the news she was there and a boat nearby from Patchy.

On a bigger note, season III of LOST will be the best yet IMO. Can't wait till next week.

I think the Others are still on the same island as the Survivors. Karl used the catamaran because it was faster to go around the island than over land.

Thanks for all your work, Brian. I'm a longtime fan who's never posted before.

And thanks to anonymous (JerryP) for pointing out that Jack previously had been held in the Hydra. I wasn't sure of the name of it, but I knew he wasn't in the Looking Glass because it was too easy for the Others to take him from his holding cell to the cages where Sawyer had been held. My guess is that there's a shorter underwater/underground tunnel that runs between land and the tank where he'd been held -- not nearly as long a tunnel as would be needed to get to the Looking Glass.

was it implied that Karl killed the rabbit? why was his hand bloody?

Where did Sayid get the plans for L.G. station, did I miss something?

I'm guessing that the Looking Glass holds Dharmites who survived the purge and who will be enemies of Ben but who can still get to the outside world, with their own sub perhaps?

The only reason I think that is that it would set up a season 3 conflict with formidable opponents who are out to kill Ben AND anyone else in their way.

Did Krazy Karl live in or near Jacob’s shack? It looked briefly like he did. How come they didn’t send someone after him? And Did you notice Alex skinning a white rabbit? Didn’t you want to scream at the tv at the end! Genius to end in the middle of the scene like that! I cried when Charlie hugged Hurley and told him he loved him. I love Hurley. He wouldn’t fit in the boat! Desmond??? I cried when Desmond offered to go instead, because he "might have better luck". As mentioned before, they never did show Charlie drowning like they kept showing him getting arrowed in the throat. (but they never showed him getting struck by lightening or drowning before either.) Is Desmond lying? does he have an agenda we don't know about?
Charlie is now through the looking glass. Is Charlie Alice? are they all alice? Is Desmond the Cheshire cat? Ben the Queen of hearts? Patchy (or Danielle)the mad hatter?

Sawyer's Optician said...

Also, I was sure that the floating Van's sneaker would be our final image of Charlie.

If brian doenst come up with the full analysis Im going to go insane, I'm living in the south of france & we dont get any of the spoilers but I love them!! I get up at 7am every thursday so that I can read Brians instant reactions & then wait all day til my hubby downloads it & watch it all later! Pleeease brian baby, write it all up soon!!! oh & ps, Im sure that girl in the looking glass is someone who is already dead? she looked damned familiar!!

Anonymous said...

That is what I thought too. I thought the girl in the Looking Glass kinda looked like the girl that Sun killed on the boat. I could be way off though.

Anonymous said...

One thought I had... now that they have Krazy Karl's Katamaran, wouldn't it have made more sense to just keep on paddling in the direction of Naomi's ship, until they reach it? Wouldn't that have been an easier plan than trying to use the Looking Glass to establish communications?

But then of course we wouldn't have had this awesome episode! I know Charlie doesn't seem to be a big favorite among LOST fans, but he's the reason I wanted to check out the pilot episode in the first place, so I really dug this epi, and I don't want Charlie to bite it. Still holding out hope that he won't die next week.

Can't WAIT for the big showdown at the beachside corral!!!

(I was going to add, "great post, Brian!" but thought better of it, since that might be construed as showing appreciation for your blogging!)

questions:

1. Does Juliette know the Looking Glass was NOT flooded? Is she part of a scam of some sort?

2. Why does Alex ask crazy Karl "is Ben my father"? This seemed out of context - what indication would she have, other than Sayid's comments back at the barracks, that her mother is looking for her.

theConundrumm said...

which is all very well, but I don't own a tv... so i usually do a fine job of dodging spoilers... and i guess i got a bit dirty as you usually keep the 'instant reactions' "spoiler free", and I make a point of only reading theses and the analysis...

ok, so I've looked back at the glass ballerina episode & it's not the girl on the boat, but...take a look at the girl who's taking Kate out of her cage with the ugly nice guy, (cant remember his name) if that is her, then this surely puts Juillet back in the liars seat?

Anonymous said...

I was wondering...did Desmond say that Claire and Aaron were "rescued" or that he saw them "getting in the helocopter"? Just because they get it doesn't mean they make it back out! Especially with all the crash trouble they have around that place. Maybe Charlie lives after all and because of that, the helo is shot down and they die because of him, that would be pretty dramatic! Although, I don't think the show would stoop to killing the baby...but who knows!

If the survivors wanted to cut off the Jamming signal to the Radio Tower, why don't they just cut the cord that is leading from/to the Looking Glass? Or is that power cord going to something else?

Stef said...

Great episode, great post, and great comment discussion!

I had to literally stand up and walk over to the television during the intense scene when Desmond offered to take Charlie's place. I could NOT figure out what the writers were going to do to us, but I knew it couldn't be Desmond going - not now. What a great scene, and it set up such a shock! Who are those women???

I can't even imagine what we're all in store for next week!

Unknown said...

The wire is pretty thick.. you'd need some serious wire cutters to cut it (I don't see any on the island). Even so, I'm sure it would electrocute whoever tried to cut it before they got all the way through.

Anonymous said...

I'm probably way off here, but I thought Charlie couldn't swim. Didn't he say that in Season 1?

Anonymous said...

As I was re-watching the scene where Charlie's playing his guitar in the rain, I noticed a sticker on the side of his guitar as he was putting it back in the case. I had to use slo-mo and stand on my head to read it, but I'm pretty sure it said "I was here moments ago". I don't know if that's a reference to his (later/earlier)encounter with Desmond, or just one of those "Paul is dead" clues the writers threw in to see if we're paying attention.
On the other hand, I am puzzled by Alex butchering the white rabbit and Karl later remarking to Alex that he thought she was bringing rabbit. As if they are no longer being supplied with food (remember the scene with Ben offering Locke the chicken and putting the carcass back in the fridge?). It would make sense that since they are no longer in the barracks that they would need to hunt for some of their food supply, but I don't think white rabbits are wild. I'm looking forward to the Producer's special tonight where they'll give us all the answers...yeah, right.

I have a theory that the Island is not mysteriously hidden from the world. I think its just a privately owned Island and since it is probably remote there is no reason for people to come across it. Also the plane was so off course no one would look at that island for the survivors anyway. The Looking Glass Station jams the signals leaving the station, but hatch implosion acted as a pulse bomb knocking out everything electrical including the jamming devide just long enough for a signal to reach that research station in Siberia.

Anonymous said...

Ok, for all you people asking "Why not cut the cable?"

First of all, it's fecking HUGE. What are they gonna use?

Secondly, take a closer look at Sayid's conveniently looted plans of the Looking Glass - it says that the cable is an ANCHOR - it's not implied that it povides power, presumably they have their own generators/turbines down there. And anyway, even if it was a power cable, they'd probably have back-up gennies - they HAVE to be sure that the signal is stopped, which means going down there and shutting it down.

Anonymous said...

I don't believe that jamming is going on. I think there is a force field of some sort is around the island -- although we did see Sayid getting a radio to receive signals and we did see a satellite connection to the outside, perhaps there is a threshold that must be passed to get a signal out. If you throw enough watts at it you can break through, otherwise it bounces back in. That would fit with the idea that the island is invisible (Remember Ben's comment that 'not even God can see this island') I think the cable is just a very fancy ethernet connection to the DharmaNet and not actually essential for them to function.

My non-scientific background research for next week:

The looking-glass world is divided into sections by brooks, with the crossing of each brook usually signifying a notable change in the scene and action of the story: the brooks represent the divisions between squares on the chessboard, and Alice crossing them signifies the advancing of her piece one square. The sequence of moves (white and red) is not always followed, however, which goes along with the book's mirror image reversal theme as noted by mathematician and author Martin Gardner[citation needed].

Please answer this before I elaborate - was there ever an episode where Locke was talking about a Jabberwocky?

Or did I sit through one too many English classes and can't keep the memories straight?

If he did, please let me know because it's rightfully significant.

Anonymous said...

The producers indicated in their recent pod-cast that LOST will somehow be akin to a house with more rooms than anyone originally thought. I wonder if this links to the Looking Glass somehow. Has anyone else heard this pod-cast?

Anonymous said...

Still stuck on the looking glass/Jabberwocky thing - the poem was written backwards and didn't make sense until Alice held it up to a mirror (well, it still didn't make sense, but at least it was legable).

Reminds me of Walt's soaking wet backward-talk.

If he didn't grow so damn fast, I'd say the table is perfectly set for a Walt reunion!

Lain said...

I don't know why but I think Desmond was lying about the flashback... what if he was?

Anonymous said...

well, Malcolm David Kelley (Walt) is a 15 year old boy. He's at that age of rapid growth and change. It's a big stretch to have a 15 year old play a 10 year old......but I've heard rumors about a Walt appearance in the finale.

Did anyone else notice that our parachuter Naomi was one of the people listening to Charlie sing, "Maybe, you'll be the one who'll save me..." in Charlie's flashback? The words of the song are significant and she and Charlie had discovered they were originally from the same area. Interesting...

Eric said...

anonymous (12:48 am) -- go back and look, that is most definitely NOT Naomi listening to Charlie play Wonderwall.

Lain -- I was wondering something similar ... many have commented that we didn't see any of the flashback. My first thought was that we didn't see the first few flashbacks either (like the lightning or the drowning), only the arrow to the throat. At least we didn't see the lightning and the drowning visions until later a later episode when Desmond explains it all to Charlie, but whatever. In any case, what if this time round Desmond is trying to impact the future by lying about his vision and changing events to bring about the rescue?

Anonymous said...

I'm still trying to figure out why Nadia was made part of Charlie's flashback. Do you think perhaps the dark haired girl in the Looking Glass with the rifle covering her face is Nadia?

In Desmond's vision of Charlie on the street, Charlie was singing "Maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me." and Desmond was there and started saving Charlie. This time around no Desmond, but Charlie saves Nadia. If she is the one in the looking Glass, is she going to remember Charlie as her hero and spare him????

Just a thought. Great episode!

This has already been discussed over on the message boards, the IMDB entries for "Greatest Hits" and "Through The Looking Glass" list the two women from the hatch as Bonnie and Greta, and you can see full-face shots of Greta (the one with the rifle). They're both new to the show.

It was driving me crazy, so I pulled out my Season 1 DVD. In "White Rabbit", Charlie runs over to Jack & tells him someone is in the ocean. When Jack dives in, Charlie is on the beach saying "I don't swim, I don't swim!" I'm sure it's just an overlooked detail, but I KNEW I remembered Charlie saying he couldn't swim, & in "Greatest Hits", he clearly can swim. I suppose it's possible he's learned how to swim since being on the island. Anyway, I feel better now:)

Jason said...

More than likely Charlie was just afraid to go after the person in the ocean. He had his own problems back then and he probably didn't want to look like a coward to the other survivors.

We all know that he learned to swim with his Dad in Butlins Pool.

"I asked in an earlier post if rabitt could be the same as others shown in previous episodes. Would be good if anyone can post a photo of past rabitts to compare to one shown last week (Brigg) episode."

Do you really think it is? Do you think it is significant? Rabbits multiply notoriously rapidly and I don't believe that they live for 30+ years. The fact that the white rabbit is used as a consistent thread with Ben, from childhood follows the whole, Alice in Wonderland/thru the looking glass theme. In that way the white rabbit is significant. As a symbol. I seriously doubt it is the same rabbit; and it really doesn't matter. Unless it turns out that Jacob is really a disguised rabbit.

Man, I am drooling for some insight from the man with the plan. I'm really looking forward to reading Brian's recap of Greatest Hits and his preview/predictions for Through The Looking Glass.

Am I alone??

Brad,
Believe it or not, I find Brian's recaps and previews more insightful than any other blogger in the Lost universe. I find Brian's more enjoyable than guys like Doc Jensen and Kristin at Eonline.

In case you guys don't frequent the Message Board, I thought I would let you know that I put up a vote to determine if I would do a quick and dirty "Greatest Hits" analysis, or just scrap it and make the "Through the Looking Glass" preview even longer.

By an overwhelming majority, the decision was to just focus on "Through the Looking Glass".

Lucky for you, there will still be a bit of "Greatest Hits" analysis included by default, since I'll have to talk about the Looking Glass, Desmond, Charlie, etc.

Should be up tonight!

great news brian, glad to hear it!

joe d., I couldn't agree more. brian definitely puts alot of time, deep thought, and effort into his writing. he is also very funny, so it makes the blog really great. it's about the only thing I go to online for lost information now.

Managing a blog like this one must be very hard for Brian himself. Lost of time, plus no money at all for his work. I support ya man,you take your time and give us what you can. Heres hoping we get the better LOST season finale ever. Fingers crossed!!

I completely appreciate the time and effort that it takes to research and write a recap/preview... however, i have stared at this screen blankly for the past two days. My employment as i know it hedges on 'some' sort of update so i can finally begin my work week. Brian, you did this to me. How do you sleep at night!?!

No, you don't get off that easily! You should combine the two! :^)
