Hilarious... and Sad

Saw this today:

and a few things struck me:

  1. The conversation between Locke and Jack from Season One is absolutely awesome - and showed how much promise the big picture story line on Lost had. It gave me chills listening to it again, so many years later.
  2. Listening to Jacob and Anti-Jacob talk through the "answers" was hilarious - but just drove home how badly the writers failed to see the story line through to completion. It was so so so good for five seasons - and then so so so bad in its final sixth. It's just a damn shame, because it left such a bad taste in my mouth.

But in other news, here's something to get you excited for Fall TV!

Last season wasn't the best, but I'd be lying if this promo trailer for Season Six of Dexter doesn't make me giddy.

(Oh yeah, also - hello world, I've missed you over the past year of non-Blogging!)

Hello Brian! I have missed your blog entries so much, it's good to hear from you again. I don't watch much tv, and what I have watched has been due to your recommendations of what's coming this season. Please carry on doing it so that I know what new things to watch!

That last clip was a gem of a find. If only we could pretend that last season never happened and they could make a new ending. All would be forgiven.

Welcome back Brian. It is sad how little I think about Lost, considering how obsessed I was with it for 5+ years.

Hobnail_Boot - my sentiments EXACTLY. To this day, I still haven't even opened up my Season Six DVDs.

Brian, I've done the same thing (or haven't done) with my season 6 DVDs. It is sad. Where did you get that LOST video from? Your title is perfect too, funny but so sad how rushed and non thoughtful that last season was.

Maybe we can just turn this into a Dexter blog. That is now my favorite non comedy show on tv.

Yo B! I didn't even buy Season 6; and every time I look up at my shelves and see that ugly skinny little Season 5 box, I get a little weepy thinking about the beginning of the horrible end.

Agreed. The more time goes by the more ambivolent i feel not just about the final season but the show as a whole. It makes me sad and a little angry how much time and thought I devoted to it, how much I wanted to like the finale, even after I saw it. I tried to convince myself it was satisfying but it was not. Oh well. Fringe and community are still good. And harry potter wrapped up magnificently.

Brian, so glad you're still alive :) Ever give any thought about starting blogging about a show again?

Hi Brian, this is so weird. My kids are watching ( or should I say rewatching) season 2 right now as I type this. It inspired me to check out your blogsite. Lost was tremendous during the first few seasons.... the 6th just fell flat. I think the issues of each season should've been resolved at the season's finale.... tying up the loose ends at the series finale was a mistake. It just frustrated the viewers and made it really hard to keep track of the various threads. For example .. who is sideways Jack's son's mom? I can't remember.

Has everyone seen this yet? I think we need to respond to Mr. Abrams!

In terms of Blogging about another show - I just haven't found one worthy of blogging about - sorry guys. But if I ever do, I'll be sure to let you know! The shows that I actively watch right now include Dexter, Community, Parks and Recreation, etc - none of which are too heavy hitting that would require blogging.

Having said that, I think I'm going to start blogging more in the very near future - so stay tuned!

In regards to what I would have changed on Lost, I think I already wrote that all up here: http://lost-and-gone-forever.blogspot.com/2010/07/if-i-wrote-lost.html

Seriously - don't we all agree that would have been a million times better?

One request, please leave more pictures of that girl from Chuck towards to the top of the page. I very much prefer to not have to scroll down to check her out everytime I come back here to see if you have anything else posted. Is that too much to ask?

Thoughts on JJ Abrams upcoming "Alcatraz" starring Hurley? Looks pretty awesome.
