Ballad of The Bengals

So my friend Sully showed me this video today... and I literally got chills and started tearing up. Perhaps the greatest and most beautiful pro-Cincinnati anti-Pittsburgh paraphanalia video I've ever seen.

Enjoy.

Is it fall yet?

Update: so I checked some of the "related links" to the above video on YouTube and found another one from the genius Ryan Parker. Why should you care? Because it features yours truly in it! See if you can find me!

Ryan Parker, you are my new hero.

It's funny...I don't remember signing any form that allows him to use my likeness in the media. I mean it's very possible that I got drunk one night, vowed my life to the Bengals and stated they could do whatever they wanted to/with me then forgot about it, but I don't remember.

I think Brian is the guy with the Burguer King mask :)) Just a wild guess!

Not the King - but I wish I had a King mask (although they're becoming a bit too commonplace these days, that guy still scares the hell out of me).

Brian,
As a Lost fanatic and thoughtful reader I appreciated your analysis and comments. But as a displaced Pittsburgh native and still Steeler fan, I have to say your latest post dropped my estimation of you. :-) I realize that living in Ohio you are handicapped and I suppose the Bengals are the least of other evils (like the Browns and the Buckeyes). And I reluctantly have to admit that the production of the videos is pretty good....just not the subject!
Go Steelers!!!!

Love it. Deifnitely made me a little homesick. Thanks for posting these!

It is my hope that in posting these, I'll be able to increase the international Bengals fan contingency.

This means you, readers in Germany, Israel, and England!

Thank God my firewall at work saved me from watching whatever garbage that was about to come from those videos. Although I am intrigued by the idea of anti-Pittsburgh. You international readers may want to check something else out to follow some American Football,
http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/fans/backers/

"Browns Backers Worldwide (BBW), the official worldwide fan club of the Cleveland Browns is considered to be the largest organized fan club in all of professional sports with over 40,000 registered members."

Maybe that's why there are at least four Browns bars out here in Vegas and ZERO Ben-gals bars. Can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend.

Pat - you've got to be kidding me.

Good luck with Charlie Frye. I think he's the future, too.

THIS IS SO COOL! I could not pick you out Brian, maybe because when you bumped into me at the store I had no idea it was you.

Anyway, if you want to know where I was back in '92 when the Bengals had Boomer(my hero)I was watching them play the 49ers ALL ALONE because my family is a PACKER backer family. YEP! I was all alone while they jeered at me for being a TRAITOR!

I didn't care and I would still wear my shirts proudly if they had not been BURNED by my dad!

Thanks again Brian...once again your posts entertain!! Even the comments can be of laughter and tears in this one! :)

I am pretty sure burning a Bengals shirt is like burning the American Flag. We could put your dad in jail if you want to press charges.

dude. tell us which one you are. you've been faceless on this blog too long!

BTW - thanks for the videos. Definitely gave me goosebumps.

The Cincitucky Bengals. You better just hope the entire team doesn't land themselves in jail by the end of the year. They're starting to resemble the pro football equivalent of the Cincitucky Bearcats under Thuggins.

Fall is getting closer, Chrismas in July, my season tickets just came int he mail today.

Season tickets arrived yesterday. They look glorious. You almost hate to break them up and use them at games. It's like destroying a piece of art.

Here's a link of Dan Patrick ripping apart "Ballad of the Bengals" ... brutal. You have to listen til about the middle of the podcast, but it's nominated as one of the lamest sports songs of all time.

Okay, I don't think all of that link made it to the post. Just go here :http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=cin and click on the "Best/Worst Sports Songs" link.

I can appreciate thos videos. The old players and draft picks and busts! Where were you.
I've been a die hard Colts fan for 30 years, many many bad years.. then you turn it around, it's really special. I always have to tell people "hey! I've been through the worse of times! Our whole team was once outscored by Chip Lohmiller.. a placekicker! It's cool to see the perspective of another team and it's more recent history. However... I also strongly remember your two Super Bowls as well(pulle for the bengals in both of them.. maybe that's why they lost)At least you've BEEN to a Super Bowl in the last 30 years.

We'll see how Palmer heals up. You guys remind me of a younger version of the Colts. I haven't seen anything as similar on offense. Defense is the achilles heal. A couple more years experience, and avoiding injuries and building some sort of defense.. you'll have many good years ahead of you. Enjoy it.... but I can't wish you too much sucess.. at least until we get a Super Bowl or two ourselves!

Oh, and beat Pittsburgh! HATE PITTSBURGH!
