Because in that episode the psychic warned Claire that she needs to raise the child herself, and that's why he gave her tickets for flight 815. He even specified that it needed to be on that flight and no other, I'm sure because he knew it would crash on an island and leaving Claire to raise the child herself.

Here's part of the transcript (taken from lostpedia):
MALKIN: It is crucial that you, yourself, raise this child.
MALKIN: This child parented by anyone else, anyone other than you -- danger surrounds this baby.
CLAIRE: Danger?
MALKIN: Your nature, your spirit, your goodness, must be an influence in the development of this child.
MALKIN: There is no happy life -- not for this child, not without you.
MALKIN: It can't be another. I may be remembering it wrong and should probably consult the Season 3 DVDs, but that's how the memory is lodged into my brain. Espcially the ...Brian, Thank you for your preview. Espcially the last paragraph. ". . . get rid of the storyless and annoying character of Claire on Lost (and probably save Sawyer / Desmond from “Death Watch” for a few weeks!), save us from the “Kate is pregnant with Sawyer’s baby” storyline (which I liked the first time I saw it – when it was called “Sun is pregnant with Jin’s baby”)"

Genius.

I just have a picky female complaint with the whole Claire/Aaron deal. I know she is young, but I was 22 when I had my first kid and it was 3-6 months before I felt or looked as good as I did before. And I gave birth in a hospital. Claire always looks too perfect, and come to think of it, Kate was over made-up (too perfect) in the airport scene with scary, hairy Jack. Is this the Lost idea of babies, they make you look great? Not true.
Ok, I'm off my soap box. In last years final episode when Kate referred to "he" waiting for her, I assumed it was a child, and the only child I thought was Aaron. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE it's time for Claire to go. Which means Sun and Claire and Aaron should all be on the next chopper.

Anyway I had a thought on the Eggtown title. Kate was from middle of nowhere america right? Couldn't it be that her hometown, a farming town, is a large producer of none other than eggs? So maybe the kids in her home call it eggtown and it's all about her going home to stand trial?Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07717978799423162710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13498413.post-73742690756331756122008-02-21T09:33:00.000-05:002008-02-21T09:33:00.000-05:00Silly me, I was just thinking LOST easter eggs wit...Silly me, I was just thinking LOST easter eggs with the name of "Eggtown." (Though I could not, of course, figure out ANY reason they'd name it that for that reason... ha!)

I simply marvel at how you even come up with ideas about what might happen when I don't even still quite comprehend what happened last week! But, great insight and ideas to think about. I never considered Aaron to be the "child" because I figured he and Claire would stay on the Island to honor Charlie.

There was a spoiler that was supposedly proven false that talked about Claire and Aaron getting on the helicopter but something happening (I won't say in case anyone would get mad). I wonder if that was actually correct? Do you know the one I'm talking about?

I think the idea that Jack and Claire find out they are bro and sis and the deadbeat dad of Aaron was somehow Hanso related is really intruiging... plus Kate raising the baby? Ugh... I don't even know!

It seems Thursdays can't come fast enough for me these days!

And on a final, very selfish and naive note... I am VERY bummed that we lost three episodes. I know they really didn't have much of a choice, but I think we've been cheated. I don't want 8 speeded up episodes when things are already so crazy. I want ALL the episodes, even if they have to do them in the summer. It just makes me mad that the writers goin on strike just ended up ruining the show in that way (okay, I don't even know what the strike was about, but I can't imagine life as a writer in Hollywood is really THAT horrible!) Would that we ALL could just go on strike when the mood hits us! :)

Then again... we wouldn't even HAVE Lost if the writers weren't so damn good, so.... harumph!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13498413.post-68877342693676414472008-02-21T08:17:00.000-05:002008-02-21T08:17:00.000-05:00So have the writers said that the 3 'missing' epis...So have the writers said that the 3 'missing' episodes from this season will never be made?

If so, how depressing, not only do I feel a bit cheated (and confused) because the episodes are speeded up/rushed, but we've lost 3 Lost episodes (pun not intended)!

Hopefully, though, I misunderstood ;-)

P.S. Second, what about the phrase "egg on your face" - maybe that has some connection to "Eggtown", maybe not but that was the first thing that came to my mind. I hadn't thought of the biblical connection between the names Jacob & Aaron - interesting. I'm hoping Kate's not pregnant just because of the repetition.
